Helen Yu

Hi there! My name is Helen, and I’m currently in my fifth year studying a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Business Analytics at the University of Auckland. I graduated from Saint Kentigern College with an IB diploma, where I thrived in literature-based subjects such as English and Geography. In high school, I took part in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as Premier Debating and U19 Basketball, and was also fortunate enough to receive a University of Otago for Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Scholarship.

During my time at university, I have been deeply involved in community-building, including co-leading Women in Business (UAWB) and gained valuable experience running mentoring programmes for both UAWB and the Chinese Law Club. I also participated in multiple case competitions through the UoA Case Club, including winning an Air New Zealand case competition. Outside of my studies, I enjoy travelling, trying the food spots with friends and spending time with my two cats.

As a tutor, I’m committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment where students can build confidence and reach their academic goals. Having gone through both the IB and Law school, I understand the challenges students face and the dedication these programmes require. I offer tutoring for both IB and NCEA curriculum in English, Geography, Social Studies, and ESOL, and I can also assist with TOK and the Extended Essay alongside Cambridge English. I look forward to sharing my passion for learning and helping students succeed in a way that’s tailored, empowering, and encouraging for their future endeavours.
