Rupeshika Gunawardana

Hi! I’m Rupeshika, and I’m passionate about helping students unlock their potential, especially in the areas of English language learning and literacy. With a strong foundation in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and hands-on experience supporting diverse learners, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session.

I hold a BA (Hons) in TESL from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, and I’m currently pursuing my Master of Education at the University of Auckland. My academic journey has deepened my understanding of ESOL contexts, inclusive education, and how to tailor support to meet each learner’s unique needs.

I’ve worked as an Assistant Lecturer in English, delivering courses such as Academic Literacy, Technical Writing, and Communication Enhancement. I’ve also provided one-on-one writing consultations, helped develop course materials, and conducted continuous assessments, experiences that have sharpened my ability to break down complex concepts and build student confidence. As part of my teaching internship, I worked in both primary classrooms and a

Learning Support Unit, where I supported students across various ability levels. Outside of teaching, I’m a self-taught children’s illustrator and an avid tennis player, two passions that help me connect with students creatively and energetically. I believe that learning should be both engaging and empowering, and I strive to make each session meaningful and enjoyable.

Whether it’s building literacy skills, supporting ESOL learners, or helping a student gain confidence in their learning, I’m here to support every step of the way.
