Bethany Johnstone
Hey there! My name is Bethany, I am 23-years-old and am currently in my fourth year at Otago University studying Biomedical Sciences. I was born in Queensland, Australia and grew up moving around the world before settling in Central Otago, New Zealand before starting Secondary school.
Because of my childhood, I have experienced so many different schools, their systems and a variety of different ways of teaching/learning. For Secondary school I attended Cromwell College where I was always in the top few in all of my subjects as well as a house leader. I achieved my NCEA level 1 and 2 with Excellence endorsement and level 3 with Merit, receiving a number of distinction and diligence awards in most of my subjects. I specifically excelled in the Mathematical subjects as well as the Sciences, also achieving a scholarship in an exam for NCEA level 3 Biology.
While I was at secondary school I volunteered at a local Primary school with their after school care program, as well as doing quite a bit of babysitting so I am very familiar with helping out with school subjects - I even still help my friends out here and there with any knowledge I have. I also used to coach gymnastics for the little ones, where I absolutely loved helping them learn new tricks.
Nowadays I love going for walks/runs, going to the gym, art, reading, learning new skills, anything and everything almost! Both my Mum and Auntie are teachers across various age groups, so I’ve been around the teaching environment for my whole life! I started tutoring just last year and absolutely loved it! I tutored in a variety of subjects including: Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
